Last week we installed the first two QR-code plates. These are the first two out of twenty and they will cover all the climbing routes arranged by our club over the years in the Vadu Crișului - Șuncuiuș area.

These QR-codes can be simply scanned with the mobile (smart) phone. The information will be uploaded directly to the mobile phone screen. This gives you access to how hard or how long the route is, how many loops are required to climb, the detailed map of the route, a full description with key points highlighted and much more. This information will be updated by club members on an ongoing basis following email feedback from climbers.

Viewing information is possible in just a few seconds. And guess what. This is absolutely free.

You just need to use a QR-code scanning application on your smartphone and you have all this information. Don't forget to set the app to reverse scan mode (the QR code is light on a dark background).

In addition, a file with all QR-code scans and their date and time is stored on a secure page. We believe that this application can be extended even to mountain rescue services, which can thus track in real time how many people have passed and possibly entered the respective route. Thus, in the event of an accident, they can be searched in a narrower area and can be found faster and easier.

The first 2 plates with QR code are the ones from the "Claia Mică" wall and from the "La Lac" cliff. The first is a wall with two more difficult routes, but the cliff has routes from the easiest to the most difficult. Below you have the QR codes installed at the location to be able to do a test with the smartphone directly in front of the computer (this time in normal mode, not reversed):

This month we intend to mount the remaining 18 plates. We will keep you posted as we achieve this.

Below we also present two short videos on how these QR code plates can be used on the rock.
