The Mocănița via ferrata route was built in 2015 on the Peretele Zanelor wall near the town of Vadu Crisului, Padurea Craiului Mountains.
The route was built with the collaboration of the public authorities that financed this project, the design and implementation being done by Salvamont Bihor in close collaboration with the CASSIO Montana club.
The route is not difficult, with only one exposed and slightly overhanging area right at the end, before the exit.
The route followed on foot from the parking lot next to the Vadu Crișului stadium passes by a spring on the left at the beginning, which dries up in warm periods. In the rainier times, it has very good water and you can fill your bottles just before you leave.
The route follows the right bank of Crișului Repede, upstream, on the railway. Then follow to the left a steep hill that leads us to the entrance to the trail.
Specific equipment is required (helmet, harness, and via ferrata shock absorber). If desired (especially for beginners) a rest kit and possibly gloves are recommended.
The route starts on a hill that we leave after 20m going right on a vertical wall that continues with an oblique traverse to the left that brings us back to the starting hill. This is the most shaded area of the route.
Then there is a vertical climb to the first Belvedere area, a platform that can easily fit 4 people at a time and from where you can take beautiful pictures of the entire gorge.
It continues on a fallen face with widespread steps. A rest stop, another small vertical section and we are at the base of the slightly overhanging final area. After it is the exit from the route.
